Anambra Governor Confirms Zoning Agreement for Governorship Seat

Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has reaffirmed that the state’s governorship seat will be zoned to the Central Senatorial District after his term ends.
This confirmation comes ahead of the November 8, 2025, governorship election in the state.
Soludo, who represents the Southern Senatorial District, stated that his zone has held the governorship seat after the Northern District maintained power for eight years.
The zoning agreement implies that the Central Senatorial District will have the opportunity to govern Anambra State for the next eight years after Soludo’s term.
This development has significant implications for the state’s political landscape, particularly with regards to the upcoming governorship election.
Soludo’s All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) party is confident of a resounding victory in the election. The party’s national chairman, Sly Ezeokenwa, and state chairman, Ifeatu Obiokoye, have welcomed former APC chieftain Ifeanyi Ibezi into the party, expressing satisfaction with his return. Ibezi’s defection to APGA is seen as a boost to the party’s strength ahead of the elections.
Soludo has urged the Idemili North Local Government Area, which has the highest number of voters in the state, to demonstrate its voting strength and break the paradox of low turnout in the upcoming election. He assured the community of ongoing developments in the state and highlighted his administration’s initiatives, including the construction of two smart schools and recruitment of teachers.
The governor’s campaign has evolved into a grassroots movement, with communities actively taking ownership by organizing endorsement rallies at their own expense.
APGA has never been more united and stronger, according to Soludo. A N20 million cheque was presented to support the governor’s campaign, further solidifying the party’s resolve to win the election.
