You Must Register as Scrap Dealers, Niger State Government Insists over Vandalism Concerns

The Niger State Government has ordered all scrap and waste dealers across its 25 local government areas to register with the government.
This initiative aims to regulate the industry and prevent vandalism of public and private properties in the state.
Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago issued the directive during a meeting with leaders of the Scrap and Waste Dealers Association, Niger State chapter.
To register, dealers must provide their residential and business addresses, Bank Verification Numbers, and National Identification Numbers.
The state government will provide biometric devices to facilitate the registration process, ensuring effective monitoring and regulation of scrap dealers. Registered dealers will receive licenses to operate in the state.
Individuals under 18 years old are barred from picking scraps, and dealers found with stolen items will face decisive action. Elected chairmen of scrap and waste dealers will collaborate with the governor’s Coordinator on Scraps, Abdusallam Sa’ad, to curb vandalism.
This move is part of the state government’s efforts to promote a more organized and responsible trade.
