Trump’s UK Visit Sparks Mass Street Protests in London

Thousands of demonstrators marched through central London on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, to protest U.S. President Donald Trump’s state visit to the United Kingdom.
The protest, organised by the Stop Trump Coalition and supported by groups including Amnesty International, Black Lives Matter UK, Greenpeace, and the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, drew large crowds to Parliament Square.
Carrying placards denouncing Trump’s policies on immigration, climate change, and foreign affairs, protesters also revived satirical symbols from his previous visit, including balloon caricatures similar to the “Trump Baby” that flew in 2019.
Authorities deployed about 1,600 police officers to ensure security, with 500 drafted from other forces. The demonstrations coincided with the ceremonial welcome extended to Trump at Windsor Castle.
Public opinion remained divided. A YouGov/Sky News poll released the same day showed that 45 percent of Britons opposed the invitation for Trump’s visit, while 30 percent expressed support.
Despite the strong turnout, police reported that the marches and rally concluded largely peacefully, with no major incidents recorded.
