Lagos Police Drop Case Against Pastor Adeferasin, Clarify Seized Item Was Stun Gun
The Lagos State Police Command has announced the discontinuation of its case against popular cleric, Pastor Paul Adeferasin, after confirming that the item earlier found in his possession was a stun gun and not a lethal weapon as initially feared.
Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement on Wednesday, explained that forensic checks revealed the device to be a non-lethal self-defense tool, commonly used for personal protection.
“The Command wishes to clarify that the item recovered from Pastor Adeferasin was a stun gun, which is not classified as a lethal weapon under Nigerian law. Consequently, the case has been discontinued,” Hundeyin said.
The police urged the public to disregard earlier speculations surrounding the incident, stressing that there was no criminal intent established against the pastor.
Adeferasin, founder of House on the Rock Church, had been in the spotlight after reports emerged that security operatives found a device on him during a routine check.
His supporters had described the development as a misunderstanding.
