Chef Dammy Hails Hilda Baci’s Guinness World Record for Largest Pot of Jollof Rice

Nigerian chef Damilola Adeparusi, popularly known as Chef Dammy, has congratulated fellow culinary star, Hilda Baci on her latest global recognition.

Baci was officially certified by Guinness World Records for cooking the largest pot of jollof rice, weighing 8,780 kilograms, during a nine-hour cookathon in Lagos on September 12, 2025.

In a video shared by Vanguard Newspapers and credited to Akary, Chef Dammy praised Baci’s resilience and celebrated her success as a win for Nigeria’s food culture.

Smiling warmly, she described the achievement as inspirational and urged Nigerians to take pride in seeing their cuisine highlighted on a world stage.

Hilda Baci, who had previously held the Guinness World Record for the longest individual cooking marathon in 2023, has now cemented her place in culinary history with this feat centred on jollof rice, a dish cherished across West Africa.

The record attempt drew huge crowds, with much of the rice distributed to onlookers after weighing, turning the occasion into both a cultural and community celebration.

Chef Dammy’s congratulatory message reflects the spirit of solidarity within Nigeria’s growing culinary scene, where chefs continue to break barriers and showcase the country’s creativity to a global audience.

The message has since gained traction online, with many Nigerians applauding the show of support and unity between the two chefs.
