Sister Killed in Ondo Over ₦800 Debt

A family quarrel in Akure, Ondo State, ended in tragedy on Saturday, September 6, 2025, after a fight between two sisters over ₦800 led to the death of the elder sibling.

The deceased, identified as Tewogboye Omowumi, reportedly got into an argument with her younger sister, Iluyemi Bosede, at their residence around 8:00 p.m.

The dispute was said to have started after Bosede demanded the refund of ₦800 she had earlier given Omowumi to buy tomatoes and pepper.

Witnesses said the argument escalated into a physical fight. During the altercation, Bosede allegedly grabbed Omowumi by her clothing, causing her to fall to the ground.

Omowumi was rushed to a nearby hospital but was confirmed dead on arrival.

The incident was immediately reported to the police, who arrested Bosede. She is currently in custody as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the death.

Although the police have not yet issued an official statement, security sources said the case would determine whether Bosede faces charges for manslaughter or murder.

The development has thrown the neighbourhood into shock, with residents lamenting the senseless loss of life over what they described as a “minor debt.”
