Family Raises the Alarm as Man Goes Missing From Akure Hotel During NGO Training

The sudden disappearance of Olaloye Olatunde, who travelled from Owo to attend a training programme in Akure, has left his family and loved ones in deep distress, after his belongings were discovered abandoned in a hotel room.
Olatunde, who checked into the hotel on August 24 for a week-long Non-Governmental Organisation training that drew 56 participants, was in constant touch with his family for the first few days.
According to relatives, he spoke with them on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, but by Friday, August 29, all attempts to reach him failed as his phone was switched off.
His wife, alarmed by the sudden silence, raised concerns. When relatives visited the hotel, they were shocked to find his clothes, shoes, and personal effects still in the room, even though other participants had checked out.
“It was a terrifying discovery,” one family source said. “It’s not like him to disappear without a word.
Finding all his belongings untouched only made things worse.”
The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed that four suspects are currently in custody, all of whom reportedly had interactions with the missing man before he vanished.
Police spokesperson Olayinka Ayanlade urged members of the public to provide any information that could help unravel the mystery.
A police source also revealed that some staff members of the hotel have been invited for questioning as part of the investigation.
Meanwhile, the incident has sparked unease among the wider public, with many raising concerns over safety in hotels across the state.
For Olatunde’s family, however, the unanswered questions remain the most painful.
“We just want to know what happened to him,” a relative said. “This has been the most difficult time of our lives.”
