DNA Evidence Links Suspect to Charlie Kirk’s Murder

FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed Monday that DNA found at the scene of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk’s murder matches 22-year-old suspect Tyler Robinson. Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA and close ally of US President Donald Trump, was shot dead during a speaking event at Utah Valley University.
According to Patel, DNA evidence, including a towel wrapped around the firearm and a screwdriver recovered from the rooftop sniper’s nest, directly links Robinson to the crime scene.
Additionally, a note believed to have been written by Robinson prior to the attack suggests premeditation, with the suspect stating he had the opportunity to “take out Charlie Kirk” and was “going to take it”.
Robinson, a brilliant high school student raised in the Mormon faith by Republican parents, had reportedly become increasingly radicalized online.
Utah Governor, Spencer Cox revealed that Robinson was romantically involved with a transgender roommate and had adopted “leftist ideology”, a stark contrast to his upbringing.
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino noted that friends and family members had observed Robinson becoming “more political” in the lead-up to the attack, suggesting multiple warning signs were missed.
Robinson is expected to face formal charges later this week.
The investigation has not been without controversy, with Patel facing criticism for his handling of the case.
Hours after the shooting, Patel announced the arrest of a suspect, only to confirm two hours later that the individual had been released. Patel defended his actions, stating, “Could I have worded it a little better in the heat of the moment? Sure. But do I regret putting it out? Absolutely not”. Patel is set to testify before Congress on Tuesday to address questions from lawmakers.
