We Rescued Mbah from Onitsha Mob over Blockade of General Hospital
The Sir Paul Chukwuma Campaign Council has asserted that it was indeed their members who rescued the Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development, Patrick Agha Mba, from an assault by irate youths in Onitsha yesterday.
The incident occurred when the Commissioner obstructed the entrance to the Onitsha General Hospital, now known as the Federal Medical Centre, Onitsha.
According to a statement released on Sunday by the Chukwuma Media Team, Paul Chukwuma, the Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate for the November 8, 2025, governorship election in Anambra State, had visited the medical facility to aid victims of a recent gunshot attack at the Onitsha main market. Upon arrival, he discovered that the Commissioner had barred the entrance, preventing the transfer of victims to a facility offering superior healthcare.
“Recently, the YPP governorship candidate, Sir Paul Chukwuma, postponed his campaign activities to address an urgent situation stemming from violence inflicted upon innocent traders by Anambra State Government operatives, resulting in fatalities at the heart of Onitsha’s main market.”
“This alarming event drove the traders to desperation, culminating in the destruction of vehicles belonging to leaders of the Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra State – OCHA Brigade, accused of orchestrating the assault on traders.
The agency’s office also suffered vandalism.”
“Upon Sir Paul Chukwuma’s arrival at the market, he implored the traders to remain composed and law-abiding, a plea documented in the video of his visit.”
“In response to grievances regarding the inadequate admission and treatment of injured traders at the hospital, Sir Paul Chukwuma pledged to ensure they received proper care.”
“Upon reaching the hospital, Paul Chukwuma was instructed to arrange an ambulance for transferring the injured to another facility, which he duly did. As the wounded were being loaded into the ambulance, a branded Sienna vehicle arrived and blocked the entrance.”
“A government official alighted from the vehicle, instructing the hospital to close its doors.
“Recognizing the official as part of the government responsible for the violence against their kin, some relatives attacked him. The official had already provoked public ire by ordering the hospital’s closure, angering the relatives of the injured and deceased. Consequently, he was urged to depart and remove his vehicle blocking the gate.
“The video currently circulated by the APGA government, which recently terrorized innocent merchants at the Onitsha main market, attempts to revive its tarnished conscience after its recent contentious debates on virginity and DNA tests.”
“The government official in the video was spared from harm by the intervention of YPP members, who sought to prevent the enraged traders from assaulting him. This is evident in the video they are disseminating.”
“The APGA government in Anambra State must acknowledge their discord with the populace, and no amount of attempts to undermine the legitimate and robust competition from the YPP, Sir Paul Chukwuma, and his Deputy, Uzu Okagbue, will prevail.”
“Our demand is straightforward: the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Soludo, must account for the billions of public funds he has managed on behalf of the people and government of Anambra State over the past three years. While the Governor may resort to grandstanding and various distractions to evade accountability, he will not escape the repudiation of Ndi Anambra at the polls on November 8, 2025,” the statement concluded.
