Court Set to Decide Nnamdi Kanu’s Fate on Urgent Hospital Transfer Monday

The Federal High Court in Abuja will on Monday, September 15, 2025, hear a motion filed by Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), seeking his transfer to the National Hospital for urgent medical treatment.
The motion was filed by his lawyer, Chief Kanu Agabi, SAN, and granted leave to be heard by Justice Musa Liman, who is sitting as a vacation judge.
According to the filing, Kanu’s doctors discovered serious health issues, including liver and kidney problems, low potassium levels, and a lump under his armpit. They recommended that he be moved to the National Hospital for closer monitoring.
The application was supported by an affidavit from Emmanuel Kanu, his younger brother, who stated that the IPOB leader had complained of weakness and body pains.
He also noted that a letter from doctors to the Director-General of the DSS, urging the transfer, has not been acted upon.
The motion, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/383/2015, will determine whether the DSS should move Kanu from its custody to the National Hospital in Abuja for medical care.
