Carvalho’s Late Strike Denies Chelsea Victory at Brentford

Fabio Carvalho struck in the closing stages to snatch a 2–2 draw for Brentford against Chelsea in a thrilling Premier League encounter on Saturday.

Chelsea looked set for all three points when Moises Caicedo unleashed a stunning effort in the 85th minute to put the visitors ahead.

But Brentford refused to back down, and their persistence was rewarded as Carvalho found the net late on to level the contest.

The result denied Chelsea the chance to close the gap on the league leaders and brought an abrupt halt to their impressive start to the 2025/26 campaign.

Manager Enzo Maresca will now face renewed scrutiny over his side’s ability to manage games in the dying minutes.

For Brentford, the dramatic equaliser capped a spirited performance and provided a much-needed morale boost after a run of inconsistent results.

Both sides were left to share the spoils, but the Bees will celebrate the point as a victory of resilience, while Chelsea are left to rue what might have been.
