Nigeria Customs Service Appoints New Lagos Industrial Area Command Chief

The Nigeria Customs Service has announced the appointment of Comptroller Adebola Salawu as the new head of its Lagos Industrial Area Command, succeeding Comptroller Sarah Wadinda, who recently retired after a distinguished career.

The handover ceremony took place at the Command’s headquarters in Festac Town.

During her farewell remarks, Wadinda expressed gratitude to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, for entrusting her with the Command’s leadership.

She also urged officers to give their full support to her successor. Wadinda’s tenure was marked by notable initiatives, including the Customs Cares project at Festac Senior Grammar School, which received a water treatment plant, an e-library, a photocopier, and refurbished toilet facilities.

Comptroller Salawu praised Wadinda’s achievements and pledged to build on them. She emphasized the importance of cooperation and urged officers to embrace the newly launched Unified Customs Management System (B’Odogwu) to boost excise performance and contribute to national economic growth.

Salawu also highlighted the need for in-house training and stakeholder engagement to drive success.

The Nigeria Customs Service continues to evolve and improve its operations under new leadership. With Salawu at the helm of the Lagos Industrial Area Command, stakeholders anticipate enhanced efficiency and effectiveness in customs operations.
