Celebrity Chef Hilda Baci’s Guinness World Record Attempt Takes a Dramatic Turn

A dramatic scene unfolded during Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci’s Guinness World Record attempt to cook the largest pot of jollof rice.

The massive cooking pot unexpectedly collapsed while being lifted for weighing at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos.

Despite the setback, Baci and her team had successfully cooked 200 bags of rice, enough to feed over 20,000 people. The event drew a huge crowd of food enthusiasts, celebrities, and influencers, turning it into a lively festival of Nigerian jollof.

The pot’s collapse has raised questions over whether the record attempt will still be recognized by the Guinness World Records, as the final measurement is crucial for validation.

Baci, who previously earned global recognition for her Guinness World Record cooking marathon in 2023, aims to showcase Nigerian cuisine on the world stage.

The event was attended by notable figures, including Nollywood actress Funke Akindele and dance professional Kaffy. Despite the incident, Baci and her team continued to serve the cooked jollof rice to attendees, with many praising the effort and vision behind the record attempt.
