Fuel Crisis Will Worsen Nigerians’ Hardship, Says Tonye Cole
Former Rivers State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tonye Cole, has cautioned that Nigerians cannot afford to face another round of fuel scarcity, warning that such a development would deepen the already dire economic situation in the country.
Cole, who is also the co-founder and former Group Executive Director of Sahara Group, made the remarks on Friday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
“Nigerians cannot afford another scarcity of fuel today. People are already in such a difficult situation, and another crisis would only worsen their suffering,” he said.
He commended the Federal Government for swiftly intervening in the recent dispute between Dangote Refinery and the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), stressing that preventing supply disruption was vital to protecting citizens’ welfare.
According to him, ensuring a steady flow of petroleum products remains crucial as the country navigates economic reforms and rising costs of living.
Cole urged stakeholders in the oil and gas sector to prioritize dialogue and collaboration to forestall future shortages, warning that any breakdown in fuel supply chains could trigger widespread hardship.
