Emir Sanusi Applauds UK for Championing Tolerance, Religious Harmony

The Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, has praised the United Kingdom for fostering tolerance, religious harmony, and peaceful coexistence among diverse communities.

The monarch made the remarks on Thursday in London at a fundraising event organised by the Muslim Association of Nigeria (MAN UK) for the rebuilding of the Old Kent Road Mosque and Islamic Cultural Centre.

Speaking to the gathering, Sanusi said the UK had demonstrated how multicultural societies can thrive through inclusivity and respect for faith diversity.

He described the mosque project as “a symbol of hope that will inspire generations yet unborn.”

Citing the example of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), who welcomed Christians into the mosque in Medina, the Emir urged countries to adopt similar principles of dialogue and mutual respect as the foundation for peace and social stability.

Sanusi emphasised that religious tolerance was not only a moral imperative but also essential for national development, adding that societies prosper when they embrace diversity and unity.
