CAF Launches 100-Day Countdown to AFCON 2025 in Morocco

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially flagged off the 100-day countdown to the much-anticipated 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), set to be hosted in Morocco.

The continental showpiece will run from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026, bringing together Africa’s finest footballing nations in what promises to be another historic edition.

This marks the first time in 37 years that Morocco will host Africa’s biggest sporting event, with the last occasion dating back to 1988.

CAF, in partnership with the Moroccan Local Organising Committee, has assured fans of a world-class tournament, with state-of-the-art infrastructure and hospitality prepared to welcome players, officials, and supporters from across the globe.

The competition will be staged across nine stadiums in six major cities: Rabat, Casablanca, Fès, Tangier, Marrakech, and Agadir.

Each venue has undergone extensive upgrades to meet international standards, underscoring Morocco’s commitment to delivering a memorable AFCON.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe described the tournament as a celebration not only of African football but also of the continent’s culture and unity. “AFCON 2025 in Morocco will showcase the best of African talent on and off the pitch. We are confident this edition will set new benchmarks for excellence and excitement,” he said.

Football fans are eagerly awaiting the draw, which will determine the group stage matchups and set the tone for the journey to continental glory. Defending champions Côte d’Ivoire, who lifted the trophy on home soil in 2024, will be among the favorites, but powerhouses like Senegal, Egypt, Nigeria, and host nation Morocco are also expected to mount strong campaigns.

As the clock ticks down to kick-off, the spotlight now shifts to Morocco, where preparations are in top gear to deliver an AFCON that will remain etched in history as Africa’s footballing carnival.
