BPP Tasks Regional Commissions’ Boards on Transparency, Procurement Due Process

The Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Dr. Adebowale Adedokun, has urged chairmen and members of the newly inaugurated regional development commissions to strictly adhere to due process in all procurement activities.

Adedokun made the call in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja by the Bureau’s Head of Public Relations, Zira Nagga.

He spoke during a retreat organised by the Ministry of Regional Development for board members of the South-South, South-West, and North-Central Development Commissions.

He emphasized that transparent and accountable procurement practices are crucial for the commissions to deliver on their mandates of driving sustainable development in their respective regions.

“Public procurement is at the heart of governance and service delivery. The boards must ensure that every contract and project strictly follows due process, as this is the only way to guarantee value for money and maintain public trust,” Adedokun stated.

The BPP boss further highlighted that adherence to procurement guidelines will not only reduce corruption and waste but also ensure equitable development across the regions.

The retreat, attended by stakeholders and policymakers, focused on strengthening governance structures, improving financial discipline, and enhancing service delivery in the newly established commissions.
