APGA Warns Against “Unqualified Leadership” Ahead of Anambra Governorship Poll

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has cautioned voters against entrusting the state to “unqualified and ill-prepared candidates.”
The Director-General of the APGA Campaign Organisation, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu, issued the warning in a statement on Friday, stressing that Anambra’s level of development and sophistication demands leaders with proven competence and integrity.
Chukwulobelu, who also serves as Secretary to the Anambra State Government, said the question of who has the requisite qualifications to govern should remain central to the electioneering process.
“Anambra is far too sophisticated to be governed by semi-illiterates and/or people of easy virtues. This election is about the future of our state, not experiments with desperate individuals lacking the intellectual or moral capacity to govern,” he declared.
APGA, which has been in power in Anambra since 2006, is fielding incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, as its candidates in the November poll.
The party maintains that Soludo’s record in governance, education, infrastructure, and economic management demonstrates the level of competence needed to sustain the state’s progress.
The statement comes as opposition parties ramp up campaigns to unseat the ruling party, accusing Soludo’s administration of underperformance. Political observers note that the weeks ahead are likely to see intensified debates over competence, vision, and credibility as contenders jostle for the support of Anambra’s electorate.
