Customs Generates ₦20.1bn at Apapa Port in Single Day

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has set a new revenue record at the Apapa Area Command, generating over ₦20.1 billion in a single day under the leadership of newly appointed Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba.

According to official figures, the Command collected ₦20,156,077,098.56 on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 just 24 hours after Oshoba assumed office.

The figure surpasses the previous daily record of ₦18 billion, also set by the Command, and is now the highest daily revenue collection in the history of the NCS using the Unified Customs Management System, popularly known as B’Odogwu.

Speaking on the milestone, Comptroller Oshoba commended the dedication of officers and men of the Command, while urging them to sustain the momentum to surpass the revenue targets for the year.

“This remarkable achievement is a clear testimony to the commitment and professionalism of officers of the Apapa Command. It demonstrates our readiness not only to sustain the legacies of my predecessor, ACG Babatunde Olomu, but to surpass them,” Oshoba said.

He further emphasised that the Command would continue to prioritise trade facilitation, compliance, and strict enforcement of customs laws in order to block revenue leakages and enhance efficiency at Nigeria’s busiest port.

Shortly after resuming duty, Oshoba held a meeting with senior officers where he reiterated the importance of discipline, teamwork, and innovation in driving higher revenue performance.

He urged them to “increase their tempo of productivity” to consolidate on the gains recorded so far.

Industry watchers say the record collection underscores the critical role of Apapa Port, which handles the largest volume of Nigeria’s imports, in government’s bid to boost non-oil revenue and strengthen the economy.
