Conservative Activist Charlie Kirk Fatally Shot at Utah Valley University; Suspect at Large

Charlie Kirk, the 31-year-old founder of conservative organization Turning Point USA, was fatally shot during a speaking event at Utah Valley University (UVU) on Wednesday.

The incident occurred around 12:20 p.m. local time during Kirk’s “American Comeback Tour” event, which drew students and supporters to the campus.

University officials reported that a single gunshot was fired from a building approximately 200 yards away, striking Kirk in the neck.

Witnesses described a scene of panic and chaos as Kirk was escorted off the stage by his security team and rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Initial reports suggested a suspect had been taken into custody; however, authorities later confirmed that no one had been apprehended.

The gunman remains at large, and law enforcement agencies, including the FBI and local police, are actively investigating the incident.

The university issued a temporary shelter-in-place order, and nearby businesses closed as a precaution.

President Donald Trump confirmed Kirk’s death on Truth Social, calling him “legendary” and extending condolences to his family. Political leaders across the spectrum condemned the attack and expressed support for Kirk’s loved ones.

The shooting has renewed concerns about political violence in the United States, prompting authorities to intensify efforts to identify and apprehend the perpetrator.

The motive behind the attack remains under investigation.
