University of Abuja Elevates 104 Academic Staff to Professorial Status

The Governing Council of the University of Abuja, now rechristened Yakubu Gowon University, under the stewardship of Dr. Olanrewaju Tejuoso, has sanctioned the elevation of 104 academic staff members to the esteemed rank of professor.
This announcement was articulated in a communiqué disseminated on Wednesday in Abuja by Dr. Habib Yakoob, the Acting Director of Information and University Relations at UniAbuja.
He elucidated that 58 individuals ascended to the rank of Professor, while 46 were elevated to Associate Professor.
A detailed analysis of the promotion exercise disclosed that the academic staff were advanced across a spectrum of disciplines, encompassing agriculture, animal science, Islamic studies, Islamic history and ethics, clinical sciences, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, radiology, ophthalmology, theatre arts, social science education, civil engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, pharmacology, statistics, applied mathematics, nursing, and allied health sciences.
Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mathew Adamu, extended heartfelt congratulations to the newly promoted staff, commending their unwavering dedication to scholarship and the pursuit of knowledge.
He remarked: “This promotion is a testament to your diligence, academic prowess, and unwavering commitment to the values and growth of the university. We anticipate that your elevated academic status will catalyze even greater accomplishments in teaching, research, mentorship, and community service.
“This promotion is particularly noteworthy as it marks the highest number of staff elevated to professorial rank in the annals of this university. It stands as a monumental achievement and a testament to the commitment of the Council, management, and the entire university community to honor excellence and fortify our human resource capacity at this pivotal juncture in the university’s evolution.”
He further assured: “With the stability currently enjoyed by the University, even greater achievements are on the horizon. I am confident that both the University and its staff will reap the benefits of this renewed impetus to ensure an enhanced and prompt reward system, designed to bolster our journey towards attaining the stature of world-class institutions.
