Prince Harry Reunites With King Charles After 19-Month Rift

Prince Harry has met with his father, King Charles III, in London on Wednesday, marking their first face-to-face encounter in more than a year and a half.

The meeting, which took place at Clarence House, lasted just under an hour and was held privately over tea.

It came as the Duke of Sussex returned to the United Kingdom on a four-day visit that coincides with the third anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing.

The reunion is significant as it is the pair’s first meeting since February 2024, shortly after the King revealed his cancer diagnosis. Since then, the relationship between Harry and the rest of the royal family has been strained, with reports of ongoing tensions, particularly between the Duke and his elder brother, Prince William.

King Charles, who traveled from Balmoral in Scotland for the meeting, was said to have made the effort to underscore the importance of the gathering.

The discussion, though brief, is being interpreted as a symbolic step toward reconciliation after nearly 19 months of limited direct contact.

Speaking briefly after the meeting, Prince Harry described his father as “great,” but offered no further details about their private conversation.

Royal watchers say the reunion could help ease public concerns over the family’s unity, but many note that the rift between the Sussexes and the wider royal household remains unresolved.

Harry’s relationship with Prince William, in particular, continues to show little sign of improvement.

The Duke’s visit to London is expected to include engagements linked to his Invictus Games initiative. However, there are no confirmed plans for him to meet with other members of the royal family beyond the King.

The development marks a rare moment of closeness in what has been a long and public period of estrangement between the Duke of Sussex and the monarchy.
