Larry Ellison Overthrows Elon Musk as World’s Richest Person

Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison has overtaken Elon Musk to become the world’s richest person, following a historic surge in Oracle’s share price fueled by booming demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Ellison’s net worth jumped to between $386 billion and $395 billion after Oracle shares rose more than 40% in a single day, marking one of the largest one-day wealth gains in history.

Ellison owns about 41% of Oracle, positioning him to benefit directly from the company’s explosive growth.

The rally came after Oracle announced four multibillion-dollar cloud contracts and projected future bookings worth up to $455 billion, far exceeding Wall Street expectations.

Analysts say the surge underscores Oracle’s growing role as a major AI cloud provider, supplying infrastructure to companies such as OpenAI and SoftBank’s Stargate initiative.

By contrast, Musk’s fortune slipped to around $384 billion to $385 billion, largely due to a slump in Tesla’s stock price, which has been weighed down by weakening demand and political controversies surrounding the billionaire entrepreneur.

While Bloomberg now ranks Ellison as the richest person alive, Forbes continues to place Musk at the top with an estimated wealth of $439 billion, highlighting differences in how private companies like SpaceX are valued.

Ellison’s rise marks the first time in years that Musk has been displaced from the top spot, reflecting how the race for dominance in AI technology is reshaping global wealth.
