Kyari Under EFCC Probe for Alleged Misappropriation
Mele Kyari, the former Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, is reportedly under scrutiny by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged financial misappropriation.
This development was disclosed by an insider within the EFCC, who indicated that the funds in question were allocated for the upkeep of the three state-owned refineries during Kyari’s administration.
The source stated, “We are interrogating him regarding the alleged misappropriation of funds intended for the maintenance of the three refineries during his tenure.”
“This investigation has been ongoing, and upon our invitation, he appeared. He remains with the EFCC.”
At the time of this report, the EFCC had not yet issued an official statement regarding the investigation.
