Kogi Police Confirm Killing of 3 Personnel at Checkpoint 

 

 

The Kogi State Police Command has verified the tragic demise of three of its officers, who were slain by armed assailants at a checkpoint in Egbe, a locality adjoining Kwara State.

 

The perpetrators reportedly seized the officers’ firearms following the fatal encounter.

 

Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya, confirmed the grievous event to the press, indicating it occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, September 10.

 

Aya disclosed that the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, has dispatched a specialized tactical team to the vicinity, and they are actively pursuing the gunmen.

 

“I can confirm that three of our officers on duty were killed today in Egbe, a border community with Kwara State.

 

“The Commissioner of Police has deployed a tactical squad to the area. We are currently on the trail of these men of the underworld, and they will all be apprehended,” he declared.

 

He further mentioned that additional details concerning the incident would be provided upon further inquiry.
