Tinubu, Fawehinmi Are My Leaders, Not El-Rufai, Says Gov Uba Sani

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has distanced himself from claims by his predecessor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, that he is one of his political mentees, declaring instead that his true leaders are President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the late human rights lawyer, Chief Gani Fawehinmi.
El-Rufai, in a recent interview on Channels Television, had described Governor Sani as one of the many individuals he mentored during his political career.
According to the former governor, his “biggest pride in life” lies in having elevated and encouraged numerous people to greatness.
“Uba Sani is one of my mentees. I developed many of them. My biggest pride in life is that I’ve elevated many people. I’ve encouraged and mentored many people to greatness. Some even greater than me, and I’m very proud of it,” El-Rufai said.
But Governor Sani swiftly pushed back against the assertion, stating that his political journey was shaped primarily by President Tinubu, whom he credited for giving him a platform in national politics, and by the late Gani Fawehinmi, whose commitment to justice and human rights deeply influenced him.
“I hold President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in high esteem as my leader.
“The late Chief Gani Fawehinmi also remains one of the greatest influences in my life. These are the figures who molded my politics and principles, not El-Rufai,” Sani reportedly said.
The development underscores growing cracks in the once-solid political relationship between El-Rufai and his successor, fueling speculations about the state of affairs within the Kaduna political establishment.
