President Tinubu Mourns Education Icon Leila Fowler

President Bola Tinubu has mourned the passing of renowned educationist, Mrs. Leila Fowler, describing her death as a huge loss to Nigeria’s education sector and to the generations she inspired.
Mrs. Fowler, who passed away at the age of 92, was the founder of the Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls in Lagos. She also held the traditional title of Yeye Mofin of Lagos and was the mother of Babatunde Fowler, former Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, the President said Mrs. Fowler made a lasting impact on the nation through her pioneering work in female education.
“Through the establishment of the Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls, the late Mrs. Fowler laid the foundation for academic excellence, nurturing generations of young women and empowering them to reach their fullest potential. The nation is grateful for her remarkable impact. She will be fondly engraved in our minds,” President Tinubu said.
The President extended condolences to the Fowler family, the management and students of the college, and the people of Lagos State. He prayed for the repose of Mrs. Fowler’s soul and for God’s comfort to those mourning her passing.
Mrs. Fowler is widely remembered as a trailblazer in education whose vision transformed the learning environment for young women, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and empowerment.
