Over 3.5 Million Nigerians Pre-register for PVCs as Osun Leads the Pack

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed that over 3.5 million Nigerians have pre-registered online for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) as of Sunday, September 7, 2025. The online registration exercise, which commenced on August 18, 2025, has continued to generate nationwide interest, with Osun State emerging as the state with the highest number of pre-registrants. According to the figures released by the Commission, Osun recorded an impressive 518,635 applicants, followed closely by Lagos with 440,647 and Ogun with 348,217. Borno also posted a strong turnout with 296,409 pre-registrants, while Kebbi and Kaduna registered 193,781 and 187,480 respectively. The Federal Capital Territory recorded 180,260, with Yobe not far behind at 173,731, and Kogi following with 166,010. Oyo completed the top ten with 160,652 applications. On the other hand, some states reported comparatively low numbers. Edo, Adamawa, and Ondo attracted fewer than 10,000 applicants each, while Abia, Ebonyi, and Enugu were at the bottom of the table with 2,629, 1,616, and 1,203 registrations respectively. Altogether, the Commission confirmed that 3,544,850 Nigerians have taken part in the pre-registration exercise so far. While the figures highlight strong participation in some states, they also underscore the uneven pace of registration across different regions of the country. INEC assured that the exercise remains ongoing and called on eligible Nigerians who have not yet registered to take advantage of the process. The Commission emphasized that it is committed to ensuring a smooth and inclusive registration exercise as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
