Darajamal Attack: Shettima Assures Of Enhanced Military Operations Against Terrorists

Vice President Kashim Shettima has assured Nigerians that the Federal Government will intensify military operations against terrorist groups following the deadly attack on Darajamal community in Borno State.
Shettima, in a statement on Monday, extended condolences to Governor Babagana Zulum, the people of Borno State, and the Nigerian military over the incident, which claimed dozens of lives. He described the killings as a tragic loss for both the state and the nation.
The Vice President disclosed that President Bola Tinubu has directed the Armed Forces to strengthen ongoing security operations through the deployment of advanced military hardware and surveillance technology across the country.
He further confirmed that the President has approved the acquisition of additional drones to bolster the fight against insurgency and improve aerial surveillance in vulnerable communities.
Shettima also highlighted the government’s plan to advance discussions on the establishment of state police, noting that specialized forces with local knowledge are critical to addressing peculiar security challenges across Nigeria’s states.
He reassured the people of Borno that the Federal Government remains committed to supporting the state government and the families affected by the attack.
The Darajamal community in Bama Local Government Area came under attack on Friday night, with insurgents reportedly targeting homes in a renewed wave of violence.
The assault left scores of residents dead and many displaced, sparking nationwide condemnation.
