Ronaldo Brace Inspires Portugal to 5-0 Victory Over Armenia in World Cup Qualifier

Cristiano Ronaldo struck twice as Portugal thrashed Armenia 5-0 in Yerevan on Sunday, keeping their 2026 World Cup qualification hopes firmly on track.

The 40-year-old forward’s brace lifted his career tally to a staggering 942 goals for club and country, including 140 international strikes, according to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The match began with a minute’s silence in honour of former Portugal international Jota, who earned 49 caps before his passing. João Félix opened the scoring in the 10th minute, before Ronaldo doubled the advantage by converting Pedro Neto’s cross. João Cancelo added a third, marking the moment with Jota’s trademark video game celebration.

Ronaldo extended Portugal’s lead early in the second half with a thunderous volley from distance, underlining his enduring quality despite his age. Félix then struck again to seal a dominant performance for Roberto Martínez’s side.

Ronaldo’s latest exploits have intensified global attention as he edges closer to the mythical 1,000-goal milestone—a feat yet to be officially recorded in modern football. For now, the veteran continues to defy age and rewrite the record books, cementing his status as one of the game’s greatest ever.
