Obi Applies the Brakes to Attend to His Health

The erstwhile governor of Anambra State and 2023 Labour Party presidential aspirant, Peter Obi, has declared a brief medical hiatus, resulting in the suspension of his forthcoming commitments both domestically and abroad this weekend.

Obi, in a statement disseminated on Saturday via his X account, revealed that he experienced illness while attending a tourism event in Enugu on Friday.

“Earlier in Enugu, I was indisposed. I sought medical attention at a hospital, where the physician prescribed medication and recommended a rest period of one to two days.

“In compliance with the doctor’s counsel, I shall be unable to fulfill my scheduled engagements this weekend.

“I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and earnestly seek your understanding,” he penned.

Despite his health setback, Obi disclosed that he paid a visit to the Good Hope Specialist Hospital in Isulo, Orumba South LGA, Anambra State, where he contributed ₦10 million to support its acquisition and revitalization by the Aguata Diocese of the Church of Nigeria.

He lauded the diocese’s initiative to transform the facility into a comprehensive health complex, featuring a School of Nursing, Midwifery, and Health Technology.

“Healthcare remains one of the most significant investments we can make. Together, we can forge a healthier Nigeria,” he declared.
