You’re Plotting to Destabilise State, Kaduna Govt Accuses El-Rufai

<span;>The Kaduna State Government has levelled serious accusations against former governor Nasir El-Rufai, alleging that his recent actions and public statements were aimed at destabilising the administration of Governor Uba Sani.
<span;>
<span;>In a statement issued on Friday, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Suleiman Shuiabu, claimed El-Rufai had embarked on a campaign of provocation and manipulation designed to push the state back into unrest.
<span;>
<span;>“The state government is compelled to issue this unequivocal and final warning to a former governor of the state, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, who, through a calculated mix of overt provocation and covert manipulation, is plotting to unleash mayhem across Kaduna State in a desperate bid to destabilise the state and drag it back into its dark and violent past,” Shuiabu declared.
<span;>
<span;>According to the commissioner, the move followed the poor outing of El-Rufai’s loyalists in the August 16 by-elections, after which the former governor allegedly convened an “illegal and chaotic” political meeting on August 30 that ended in violence.
<span;>
<span;>Shuiabu also faulted El-Rufai’s appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics of August 31, where he accused federal and state authorities of “bribing bandits” in Kaduna.
<span;>
<span;>He described the remarks as deliberate attempts to stir public anger and discredit security operations.
<span;>
<span;>“These are not mere words; they are calculated, malicious lies designed to undermine security efforts, incite public anger, and legitimise criminality,” he said, insisting that the comments were an insult to the sacrifices of security personnel and community leaders who had helped restore calm in troubled areas of the state.
<span;>
<span;>The commissioner maintained that under Governor Uba Sani, security agencies working with communities had restored peace in Birnin Gwari, Giwa, Kajuru, and Kauru, while several notorious bandit leaders had been neutralised or captured.
<span;>
<span;>“For a former governor to publicly deny these hard-won victories, and in doing so insult the memory of officers who died in the line of duty, is beyond shameful. It is dangerous. It is a deliberate act of sabotage,” Shuiabu added.
<span;>
<span;>He also highlighted the Sani administration’s achievements in healthcare, education, infrastructure, and financial inclusion, describing El-Rufai’s criticisms as deliberate distractions from ongoing progress.
<span;>
<span;>“The Kaduna State Government will do whatever it takes, within the bounds of the law, to preserve the peace and stability that our people have worked so hard to rebuild.
<span;>
<span;>No individual, no matter how highly placed or previously powerful, will be allowed to destabilise the state,” he warned.
<span;>
<span;>Shuiabu urged residents to disregard “divisive rhetoric” and rally behind government-led peacebuilding efforts. “The peace of Kaduna State is non-negotiable.
<span;>
<span;>”Anyone who dares to threaten it, be it Nasir El-Rufai or any of his accomplices, will be held accountable,” he said.
<span;>
<span;>The clash comes after the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) dismissed El-Rufai’s claim on ransom payments, stressing that neither it nor any federal agency had ever paid or induced bandits.
