Police Assure Adequate Security for Nigeria vs Rwanda World Cup Qualifier

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has assured fans, players, and officials of robust security arrangements ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Rwanda.
Commissioner of Police, Baba Azare, in a statement from the State Headquarters in Ikot Akpanabia, Uyo, said the command has deployed a comprehensive security strategy to guarantee a hitch-free event. According to him, both uniformed and plain-clothes operatives will be stationed in and around the stadium to monitor activities, prevent disorder, and respond swiftly to any threats.
“We are fully prepared to provide adequate security before, during, and after the match. Our officers will be visible, and others will operate discreetly among the spectators to ensure peace and order,” Azare stated.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), working closely with security agencies, has also reinforced the arrangements. Measures include police escorts and backup vehicles for both teams and match officials, fortified hotels and training facilities, as well as anti-bomb squad sweeps at designated venues. Elite units such as the Police Mobile Force and Counter-Terrorist Unit will also be on standby.
The Super Eagles are set to face Rwanda in Uyo as part of their qualification campaign for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the police assuring fans of a safe and secure atmosphere throughout the encounter.
