Man Kills Ex-Girlfriend in Lagos, Old Tweets Resurface

A disturbing case of gender-based violence has shaken Lagos after a man, identified as Lintex Ogale, allegedly murdered his ex-girlfriend, Deborah Moses, one year after their breakup.
The incident has sparked outrage, particularly after old social media posts by the suspect resurfaced, hinting at violent tendencies.
According to reports, Ogale, said to be from Benue State, disguised himself as a dispatch rider to gain entry into Deborah’s home. Before the fatal attack, he had allegedly tampered with her cooking gas in an attempt to cause an explosion, but when that failed, he stormed her residence and stabbed her to death. Witnesses said he declared, “If I can’t have you, no man would,” before carrying out the act.
Deborah, an interior decorator, had reportedly ended the relationship because of Ogale’s violent behavior. Her sister confirmed that he never accepted the breakup and continuously harassed her until her untimely death.
The shocking crime has drawn more attention after Ogale’s old tweets were dug up by social media users. In one of the resurfaced posts, he wrote: “na who know person go kill am normal,” loosely translating to “it’s only someone close who can kill someone.” In another, he commented on a controversial murder case involving a gospel singer, writing: “The guy na just mumu. If everybody start kpai women base on cheating, I’m not sure 10% of them will be left.” These resurfaced messages have fueled public anger, with many describing them as red flags that went unnoticed.
The incident has once again brought to the fore the growing concern about intimate partner violence in Nigeria. Advocacy groups are calling for stronger laws, better enforcement, and more societal awareness to protect women from abusive partners.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the case, but pressure is mounting for a thorough investigation and prosecution.
