Nigerian Arrested in Poland for Using Fake Residence Permit

A 26-year-old Nigerian citizen was detained by Polish Border Guard officers for possessing a counterfeit residence permit.

The individual admitted to purchasing the fake document online for €2,000 while still in the UK. Investigations revealed that the Nigerian had been in Poland illegally for four days and had no valid basis for staying in the country.

As a result, the Commander of the Border Guard ordered him to leave Poland within 20 days and imposed a three-year ban on entry to the Schengen Area. The suspect was charged with using a counterfeit document, an offense under Article 270 § 1 of the Penal Code, and pleaded guilty, accepting the penalty without further explanation.

This case highlights the growing concern over document forgery and irregular migration, with many individuals often falling victim to elaborate scams.

Polish law enforcement agencies, supported by Europol, have been actively working to dismantle these criminal networks.
