Federal Polytechnic Ede Students Benefit from NELFUND as Rector Hails Tinubu’s Administration

The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State, Dr. Sani Man Yahaya, has lauded President Bola Tinubu for the establishment of the National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), describing it as a transformative initiative in Nigeria’s education sector.

Speaking during an interactive session with students, Yahaya said the scheme has already begun impacting lives by ensuring that no student is denied access to higher education due to financial constraints.

He noted that the programme, which provides interest-free loans to undergraduates across the country, has significantly reduced the burden of tuition and other academic costs on indigent students.

“NELFUND is a revolutionary policy that has opened a new chapter for Nigerian students. It is now impossible for any determined student to abandon higher education simply because of financial challenges,” the Rector said.

The Student Loans (Access to Higher Education) Act 2024, which was signed into law by President Tinubu on April 3, 2024, paved the way for the formal establishment of NELFUND.

The scheme is designed to provide equitable access to education and reduce the rate of school dropouts nationwide.

Yahaya commended the foresight of the federal government, stressing that the policy demonstrates President Tinubu’s commitment to human capital development. He also encouraged students to take advantage of the scheme, noting that education remains the greatest tool for empowerment and national progress.

Several students of the polytechnic who have accessed the loan also expressed gratitude to the federal government, saying the initiative has brought relief to their families and restored hope for a brighter future.
