Tinubu Departs Abuja for 10-Day Annual Leave in Europe

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday departed Abuja to begin a ten-working-day annual leave in Europe.
A statement from the Presidency confirmed that the vacation, described as a “working leave,” will be spent between France and the United Kingdom. It marks the President’s first official annual leave since assuming office in May 2023.
Tinubu, who left the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, is expected to return to the country after the completion of his break.
While away, Vice President Kashim Shettima will oversee state matters in acting capacity.
The announcement of the leave has sparked public reactions, with some Nigerians questioning the decision to spend the vacation abroad at a time when the country is grappling with economic hardship. Others, however, see it as a routine presidential exercise in line with global practice.
