FCTA Revokes All Park Licences in Abuja, Orders Fresh Screening of Operators

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has announced the withdrawal of all existing park licences in Abuja, directing operators to resubmit their documents for a fresh screening exercise.

The decision, according to the FCTA, is aimed at sanitising the operations of parks within the capital city and ensuring that only duly certified operators are allowed to function.

Officials say the revalidation exercise will also allow the administration to reassess park allocations and possibly reallocate spaces where necessary.

Confirming the development on Thursday, senior FCTA officials explained that the measure became necessary following complaints of irregularities, misuse of allocated spaces, and violations of operational guidelines by some park operators.

“All licences previously issued have been withdrawn. Every operator is expected to resubmit their documents for screening. This is part of our efforts to restore order and ensure that parks within the FCT meet the required standards,” the statement read in part.

The administration also warned that operators who fail to comply with the fresh screening directive risk losing their allocations permanently, as the government is determined to enforce discipline in the management of recreational and leisure facilities across Abuja.

Residents and business owners have been advised to exercise patience as the process unfolds, with assurances that the revalidation exercise will enhance safety, orderliness, and proper land use in the city’s public spaces.
