Ekiti Govt Awards N3.8bn for Construction of Staff Quarters at Agro-Allied Airport

The Ekiti State Government has approved the sum of N3.86 billion for the construction of aviation staff quarters at the Ekiti State Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport, Ado-Ekiti.

This was disclosed in a statement on Thursday by the Special Adviser on Information and Value Orientation, Taiwo Olatunbosun, who noted that the decision was part of resolutions reached at the State Executive Council meeting held in Ado-Ekiti.

According to him, the project is a critical step in ensuring the successful operational take-off of the airport, which is a flagship infrastructure project of the state government.

“The Ekiti State Government secured 14 residential flats comprising six two-bedroom flats and eight three-bedroom flats located at the GRA, Ado-Ekiti, to accommodate the aviation personnel deployed to the facility.

These quarters provide a conducive living environment essential for staff productivity and welfare,” Olatunbosun stated.

The government explained that the construction of the staff quarters was necessary to address accommodation needs of aviation professionals who would manage the facility, adding that providing a suitable living environment was crucial to efficiency and safety at the airport.

The Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport, launched in 2022, was conceived as a specialized hub to promote agricultural exports, attract investment, and open new economic frontiers for Ekiti State.

With the addition of the staff quarters, the government believes the project is closer to full operationalization.

Olatunbosun reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to ensuring the airport becomes fully functional and serves as a catalyst for job creation, agricultural development, and enhanced revenue generation.

The approval for the construction adds to a series of measures recently taken by the Fayemi-led administration’s successor to consolidate on the project, which has been described as central to Ekiti’s economic diversification agenda.
