Amnesty International Urges Government to End South-East Killings

Amnesty International has called on the Federal Government to take immediate action to stop the recurring killings and human rights abuses in the South-East region of Nigeria.

The human rights group expressed concerns over the government’s lack of commitment to addressing the issue, citing the silence of South-East governors and security agencies in response to inquiries.

The organization has documented numerous cases of enforced disappearances, torture, and destruction of properties in the region. Amnesty International is urging the government to conduct thorough investigations into human rights abuses, ensure the safety of lives and properties, and bring perpetrators to justice.

The South-East region has experienced a surge in violence and insecurity, with many lives lost and communities devastated.

Amnesty International’s call for action highlights the need for the government to prioritize human rights and take concrete steps to address the crisis.
