Jibrin Says North Must Unite, Insists Tinubu Will Win 2027

A member of the House of Representatives, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has urged northern leaders to put aside divisions and unite politically ahead of the 2027 elections, while expressing confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure a second term.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, the Kano lawmaker, who represents the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), said the North has consistently weakened itself by working against its own interests.

“The North has always united against itself and it is time for us to tell ourselves the truth,” Jibrin said.

On Tinubu’s chances in 2027, the lawmaker was emphatic:

“I’m a Tinubu person and I believe I cannot see anything that will stop him from winning election in 2027.”

Jibrin, a former Director-General of Tinubu’s campaign organization, added that his support for the president is rooted in personal conviction. He also hinted at possible cooperation between Tinubu and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso ahead of the polls.

His remarks come as political alignments and realignments continue across the country, with both ruling and opposition parties positioning themselves for the next general election.
