Integrity is Core in Tinubu’s Administration , Says Minister Idris

Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has underscored that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made integrity a cornerstone of his administration’s policies. Addressing a high-level roundtable on transparency and accountability, Idris highlighted that combating corruption remains one of the primary priorities of the government. The minister noted that President Tinubu has reinforced the independence of Nigeria’s anti-graft institutions, particularly the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), ensuring that their operations remain free from political interference. “Under this administration, there will be no sanctuary for corruption,” Idris affirmed, stressing the President’s commitment to a government built on accountability and ethical governance. In addition, Idris emphasized that the administration is pursuing comprehensive judicial reforms aimed at expediting corruption trials. These reforms are designed to ensure that justice is not only served but also delivered in a timely manner, reducing the historical delays that have hindered effective prosecution of corrupt practices. The Information Minister also called on State Commissioners of Information to maximize the opportunities presented by the Renewed Hope Agenda, urging them to collaborate beyond party affiliations to effectively communicate government policies to local communities. He stressed that fostering cooperation between federal and state authorities is essential in consolidating Nigeria’s democracy and strengthening the fight against corruption at all levels. Idris further highlighted that the administration’s focus on integrity aligns with the broader objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to build a stable, equitable, and prosperous Nigeria. He noted that prioritizing transparency and accountability is critical to restoring public confidence in government institutions and promoting a culture of honesty and ethical governance throughout the public sector. Experts have observed that by embedding integrity into the framework of governance, the Tinubu administration is signaling its determination to confront corruption decisively, which could enhance investor confidence, improve Nigeria’s global image, and create a more conducive environment for sustainable development. The renewed emphasis on ethical governance is also linked to the administration’s broader socio-economic initiatives, including infrastructural development, social welfare programs, and institutional reforms, reflecting a comprehensive approach to national progress. As Nigeria continues to face challenges associated with corruption and governance, the Tinubu administration’s focus on integrity and accountability is being closely monitored by citizens, civil society, and international partners as a potentially transformative step in strengthening democratic governance and ensuring transparent administration.
