Dangote Trailer Wipes Out Family in Enugu

A tragic road accident has been reported in Enugu State where a trailer allegedly belonging to the Dangote Group crushed an entire family.

The incident was said to have occurred on Wednesday at the Four Corner Junction, a busy spot in the state.

According to reports by eyewitnesses, the heavy-duty truck ran over a family, killing all members instantly.

Although the exact number of victims has not been officially confirmed, the reports sparked outrage as videos and messages circulated across social media platforms on Wednesday evening.

The accident comes just weeks after another high-profile incident involving the conglomerate. On August 13, Ruth Otabor, younger sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna, was crushed by a Dangote cement truck near Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State.

Despite emergency medical attention and plans to fly her abroad for advanced treatment, she did not survive. The company later issued a condolence message to the family, stating it had covered hospital bills and other related expenses.

While the Edo tragedy was acknowledged and confirmed by Dangote Group, the latest development in Enugu remains under verification. As of press time, neither the company nor state authorities have issued a formal statement confirming the circumstances of the reported crash or the exact number of casualties.

The repeated involvement of trucks linked to the Dangote Group in fatal road accidents has reignited public concern about road safety standards, driver training, and regulatory enforcement.

Families of victims and civil society groups have previously called for stricter monitoring of heavy-duty vehicles to prevent recurring tragedies on Nigerian highways.

Authorities are expected to give further clarification in the coming days as investigations into the Enugu accident continue.
