NOA Begins Security, Values Sensitisation Campaign in Ondo

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has commenced a large-scale sensitisation campaign in Ondo State aimed at strengthening citizens’ security consciousness and promoting national values.

The initiative, which targets no fewer than three million residents in Ondo and similar numbers in every other state of the federation, is part of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope agenda under President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking at a press briefing in Akure, the Ondo State capital, the Director-General of the agency, Lanre Issa-Onilu, said the exercise was designed to mobilise Nigerians against insecurity and to reinforce collective responsibility in building a safe and united nation.

Issa-Onilu, who was represented by the Director of Civic, Values and Democracy Education, Dr. Olukemi Afolayan, disclosed that 15,000 security operatives have already been deployed across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to support the campaign.

According to him, the nationwide sensitisation drive would be carried out through multiple channels, including the media, town hall meetings, motor park rallies, markets, road shows, and engagements with traditional rulers, community leaders, and religious institutions.

“This campaign is about awakening the consciousness of Nigerians to the fact that security is everyone’s business. Government alone cannot achieve a safe society without the active involvement of the people,” Issa-Onilu said.

He stressed that insecurity thrives where citizens neglect their civic duties, adding that the NOA will continue to emphasise values such as honesty, patriotism, and community vigilance in its grassroots engagements.

The campaign is expected to run simultaneously across the federation, with the agency pledging to sustain the momentum until its objectives are achieved.
