Another Fire Outbreak Hits Oyo State as Ajayi Crowther University Radio Studio Razed

A fire outbreak has gutted the radio studio of Ajayi Crowther University in Oyo State, destroying equipment and property worth millions of naira.
The incident, which occurred on Monday on the university campus, was reportedly caused by an electrical surge from the studio’s air-conditioning system. The flames quickly spread before firefighters arrived to contain the situation.
Confirming the development in a statement on Tuesday, the Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, said the team led by PFS 11 Makinde promptly responded to the distress call.
“When they arrived, the studio was already engulfed in flames and smoke. They managed to stop the fire from spreading to other areas. No casualties were recorded, and we were able to save properties worth millions of naira,” Akinwande said.
He further urged residents and institutions to always keep functional fire extinguishers at hand to tackle minor outbreaks before they escalate.
The incident adds to a growing list of fire disasters recorded in Oyo State in recent weeks. On August 16, Fresh FM Nigeria confirmed that its head office at Challenge, Ibadan, was gutted by fire.
Similarly, on July 9, five shops were razed in Ibadan, destroying goods worth millions of naira.
The recurring cases have heightened public concern over fire safety and the need for stricter preventive measures across homes, businesses, and institutions in the state.
