AAAU Commends NELFUND as ₦6.97m Loan Boosts 10 Students

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has disbursed ₦6,972,000 to support 10 students at the African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU), Abuja.

NELFUND confirmed the disbursement in a statement on Tuesday, noting its continued commitment to empowering Nigerian students and strengthening higher education.

The management of AAAU, in a statement signed by its Registrar, Mustapha Abdul, acknowledged receiving the funds on Monday, July 21, 2025. According to the school, the intervention will provide significant relief for the beneficiaries.

“We deeply appreciate this timely intervention, which will significantly ease the financial burdens of our beneficiaries and enhance their ability to focus on their academic pursuit,” the university said.

NELFUND was created under the Student Loans (Access to Higher Education) Act, signed into law by President Bola Tinubu on April 3, 2024, to provide sustainable access to higher education and skills training for Nigerian youths.

So far, the Federal Government says more than ₦59 billion has been disbursed nationwide through NELFUND, with over 600,000 students already onboarded.

The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, who disclosed this during a briefing in Asaba on Monday, emphasized that no qualified Nigerian should be deprived of tertiary education due to financial constraints.
