Sultana Shares Emotional Story Inside BBNaija House, Says I Was Married Off As A Teen
Big Brother Naija Season 10 housemate, Farida Sultana Auduson, popularly known as Sultana, has opened up about her life before joining the reality TV show, disclosing that she was married off as a teenager and is now the mother of two children.
The emotional revelation came during a private conversation with fellow housemate Jason Jae, shortly after Sultana emerged winner of the interim Head of House challenge.
Speaking candidly, she recounted how she was forced into marriage at about 15 years old, an experience that exposed her to the burdens of adulthood much earlier than she was prepared for.
“I was about 15 when I was married off,” she said, explaining that the decision was not one she made for herself but one imposed upon her. Despite the difficulties that followed, Sultana expressed pride in her two daughters, Aaliyah and Lianora, both of whom were delivered through Caesarean section.
She described them as her greatest motivation to push forward in life.
Her story has since sparked widespread reaction among viewers and fans of the reality show. Clips of the conversation, posted on Big Brother Naija’s official platforms and shared across Instagram, TikTok, and X (formerly Twitter), drew thousands of comments within hours. Many social media users expressed sympathy while others commended her bravery for speaking about such a sensitive experience on a national platform.
Advocates for women’s and children’s rights have also weighed in, noting that Sultana’s story mirrors the struggles faced by countless young girls in Nigeria who are victims of early or forced marriages.
They stressed that her experience should ignite stronger calls for enforcement of child protection laws and the promotion of educational and social opportunities for the girl-child.
For many viewers, Sultana’s openness has added a compelling human angle to this year’s Big Brother Naija season. Beyond the glamour and competition of the reality show, her testimony has drawn attention to a pressing social issue, while also highlighting her resilience and determination to overcome adversity.
As the season continues, Sultana’s journey is being closely followed, with supporters describing her as not only a strong contestant but also a voice for young women who have endured similar challenges.
