Northeast APC Stakeholders Demand Ministerial Appointment for Haruna Sardauna

The APC Youth Stakeholders Forum from the Northeast region has called on Vice President Kashim Shettima and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu to support the appointment of Haruna Sardauna as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management.

This request comes after the position became vacant following Nentawe Yilwatda’s election as APC National Chairman.

The forum, led by Abdulkareem Jimeta, emphasized the need for equitable representation of Northeast youths in President Bola Tinubu’s administration, citing a significant imbalance in appointments. According to Jimeta, Kano State has 27 youth appointees, while the six Northeast states combined have only eight.

The group highlighted a stark disparity in presidential youth appointments, with the Northwest region receiving 71%, the North-Central region 21%, and the Northeast region a mere 8%.

They believe Haruna Sardauna’s appointment would address this imbalance and provide necessary support to the Northeast region, which has been heavily affected by the Boko Haram insurgency.

Sardauna’s qualifications, including being a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Administration and Governance, and his expertise in public administration, grassroots mobilization, and humanitarian work, make him a suitable candidate for the position.

The group believes his appointment would not only reward his loyalty to President Tinubu but also boost APC’s chances in the 2027 presidential election.

The campaign for Sardauna’s appointment has received backing from other Arewa youth groups, who endorse him for his potential to develop policies and programs tailored to the region’s needs.
