Bauchi State Governor Establishes Inter-Faith Peace Committee

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has inaugurated an Inter-Faith Peace Committee comprising Imams and clergymen to promote peaceful coexistence, religious harmony, and ethnic tolerance in Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro Local Government Areas.
The committee, consisting of 30 members drawn equally from both local governments, representatives of security agencies, and officials of the two councils, is co-chaired by Imam Ado Musa and Rev. Vincent Bature.
Its mandate is to sensitize citizens on the importance of peaceful coexistence and unity, leveraging the influence of religious leaders to resolve ethno-religious conflicts.
Governor Mohammed emphasized that the initiative consolidates the peace built over six years, threatened by “unpatriotic elements” exploiting farmer-herder clashes. He assured that the government would collaborate with security agencies to address emerging threats.
The governor expressed optimism about the committee’s potential, while Imam Ado Tafawa Balewa and Reverend Vincent Bature pledged to uphold the committee’s mandate and ensure effective service delivery. This development aims to strengthen peace and development in Bauchi State, aligning with Governor Mohammed’s commitment to supporting security agencies and promoting sustainable peace.
