Okpebholo Pays Tribute to Late Former IG Arase

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has paid glowing tribute to the late Dr. Solomon Ehigiator Arase, former Inspector-General of Police (IGP), who passed away over the weekend.

In a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, and issued on Sunday in Benin, the governor described Arase as a distinguished Edo son, a patriotic Nigerian, and a man of honour whose life was defined by service and integrity.

Okpebholo noted that the late former police boss left behind a legacy that would endure for generations, particularly in the areas of professionalism, reforms in community policing, and criminal justice administration.

“Dr. Arase was not only a towering figure in Nigeria’s security architecture but also a role model whose hard work and dedication saw him rise to the pinnacle of his career as the 18th Inspector-General of Police. His contributions to the safety and security of our nation were immeasurable,” the governor said.

He added that Arase’s death was a painful loss to Edo State and Nigeria at large, stressing that his memory would continue to inspire future generations of law enforcement officers and leaders across the country.

“On behalf of the government and people of Edo State, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family of Dr. Solomon Arase. May God grant them the fortitude to bear this great loss,” Okpebholo said.

The late Arase, who was highly respected for his reformist leadership, retired as Nigeria’s 18th Inspector-General of Police after a distinguished career in law enforcement.
